A Forest for the Trees – A widely acclaimed immersive art show created and directed by native Los Angeles artist Glenn Kaino, together with The Atlantic, Superblue, and supported by presenting sponsor Mastercard, A Forest for the Trees transports audiences on a journey through a surreal forest of magic, music, and wonder as it inspires us to reimagine our relationship with the natural world. The show is inspired by The Atlantic’s extensive writings that have shaped American attitudes toward nature for more than a century.

“Indigenous Astronomy and Storytelling with Dominique Butler ” is one of many programs that runs throughout the duration of the show. A family workshop led by Space Science Communicator and NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars Program graduate, Dominique Butler. Butler, also known as “Spacemami” on social media platforms, will lead a workshop on Indingenous Astronomy by sharing a Native authored story followed by an art activity designed to give children the opportunity to map out the night sky and create their own legend to pass down.

The workshop begins Friday, August 5th, 2022 from 1:00pm – 2:30 pm in the VIP Room of Ace Mission Studios (490 South Mission Road, Los Angeles, CA 90033), and runs every other Friday at the same time until Friday, September 2nd, 2022.

Dominique Butler is involved with several space science organizations, and is working to bridge the gap between space science and popular culture by developing methods of education and communication through multiple media platforms. Through her educational articles, videos and outreach work, Dominique aims to share her passion for space science and astronomy.

The Immersive Art show runs through September 5th at Ace Mission Studios (490 South Mission Road, Los Angeles, CA 90033) in downtown Boyle Heights, with the show open Wednesday through Sunday from 12 – 9pm (check for daily hours). Tickets are $13.50 – $35 (children and adults, peak and non-peak), and are available for purchase at https://www.aforestla.com/.
