The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) commissioned twenty-two (22) dancers and choreographers who reside or work in Council Districts 2, 3, 8, and 10 and whose livelihoods were greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic to each create 1 to 3-minute original online site-specific performance for Dance in the Districts, a pilot program in partnership with the Los Angeles Dance Workers Coalition (LADWC). Culmination screenings took place for CD 2 and CD 3 on October 1, 2022 to rave reviews.

Eleven (11) artists from CD 8 and CD 10 will showcase their commissioned films and participate in a discussion about their processes on Friday October 21, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at the Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center, 4305 Degnan Boulevard, Suite 101, Los Angeles, CA, 90008. A modest reception will close the evening. The Dance in the Districts commissioned dancers and choreographers whose works will premier are:

Teresa ‘Toogie’ Barcelo, Bernard Brown, Jamie Carabetta, Shauna Davis, Darrel ‘Friidom’ Dunn, Gabriel Gutierrez, Rachel Hernandez, Imani Jackson, Aerick Luckie, Micah Moch, and Haniyyah Tahirah.

This event is free, family friendly, and open to the public. However, due to limited space, reservations are highly recommended.
