Celebrate spring with us in beautiful Hermon Park. DCA’s Art in the Park and Milagro Allegro Community Garden host free, family-friendly workshops and events through June 24 inspired by the spring growth cycle of the Zinnia flower. See below for details:
Cumbia Community Workshop
Saturday May 21 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Play along to the rhythm of Cumbia with members of Poco Pocho (some percussion instruments will be provided).

Binding New Worlds: Sustainable Mechanics and Botanical Sculpture Knowledge Share
Friday, May 27 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with artist Isa Peña
Contribute to a community-based art installation. We begin by weaving together organic materials to form a series of botanical sculptures built and grown for, and by, community. We intend to nurture connections to land while honoring the beauty and bounty of nature by presenting this offering to the community.

Saturday, May 28 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with Artist Isa Peña
Bring Zinnia and other flowers to Art in the Park to contribute to our communal botanical sculpture with artist Isa Peña, and Cumbia music by Poco Pocho.

Gently disassemble the installation at Art in the Park and return the flowers to Milagro Allegro to be composted.

Harvesting and sharing of zinnia Seeds from flowers left to mature and dry on the stem.
