Directed by Billy Wilder, who cowrote the script with crime fiction maestro Raymond Chandler, this twisted tale oflove and murder set the bar for film noir. The classic Los Angeles film stars Fred MacMurray as a hardened insurance salesman who falls for a very married—and very blonde—woman (Barbara Stanwyck). The pair conspires to get Stanwyck’s character out of her marriage and both of them into a lot of cash, but to disastrous ends.
