Join 2023 Latino Heritage Month Chair, Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez; Mayor Karen
Bass; Council President Paul Krekorian; and the Los Angeles City Council to celebrate El
Grito de Dolores and kick off Latino Heritage Month in the City of Los Angeles on the
historic steps of Los Angeles City Hall. Celebrate Mexico’s Independence Day with live
music, food trucks, arts and crafts vendors, and much more!
El Grito Los Angeles 2023 will feature musical entertainment on the historic Spring
Street Steps of City Hall with live performances by Banda Machos, Las Colibrí, Las
Cafeteras, and Banda Las Angelinas. This annual tradition includes Los Angeles leaders
joining the Consul General of Mexico to reenact the historic Cry of Dolores and ring the
bell, commemorating the call to arms pronounced by Miguel Hidalgo in 1810, launching
the Mexican War for Independence.
