Angels Gate Cultural Center presents the second exhibition from CURATORIAL TAKEOVER 2019, FA4 Collective’s GANAS DE EXISTIR!, a multimedia exhibition featuring artworks that explore themes of identity, erasure and visibility. Curated by FA4 Collective member Gloria Sanchez, the show will feature 21 emerging artists and performers from across the Los Angeles region.

April 13th, 12-4pm: The opening reception will offer live music, spoken word, and performance works by Jessa Calderon, Brianna Mims, Jasmine Nyende, Gloria Plaza, and DJ Fuyu.

May 18th, 6-9pm: A second reception will feature performances by FA4 Collective members Cindy Vallejo and Marlene Tafoya, a fire performance offering by Primal Element and a full moon ceremonia facilitated by Muxeres Unidas.

June 15th, 2-4pm: An Artist Panel featuring participants of the show to discuss and explore the creative process and the meaning of the works created

Lastly, the closing reception will be held on June 22, 2-4pm.

The gallery is open Monday-Friday 10am-4pm and Saturdays 12pm-5pm.

ALAP Pride Playreading Festival

Concerts on the Green

Since 1975, the Valley Cultural Center has presented a series of free “Concerts on the Green” during the summer. Organized to enrich the lives of Valley residents, these concerts feature top pop, jazz, classical, folk, and world music performances every Sunday afternoon at Warner Park. The series includes food, booth vendors, and a children’s play area. Parking for concerts is available in the parking structure directly behind the stage on Califa Street for $15.

Luminario Ballet “Choose Your Identity”

Luminario Ballet will perform ballet, modern dance and aerial dance repertory from 2009-2019 including Lewitzky Dance Company’s “TURF” which is about guarding our “turf” from outsiders and each other; excerpts from “LedZAerial”- aerial and dance with the music of Led Zeppelin; and other repertory. Special Guest: superstar aerialist and aerial choreographer Dreya Weber (Cher, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Britney, PINK) Stay with us afterwards for drinks and dancing!
