Jazz Under Construction is an educational mini documentary that demonstrates the building of a Classic Jazz composition, using piano, bass and drums as its foundation. The purpose of this instructional and entertaining presentation is to be a “how to” for young aspiring jazz musicians and a “what to “for music educators. The video will be accessible via YouTube, all social media platforms, as well as the LA Third Church and Parkside EDC websites. Links or MP4’s will be distributed to all local high school and college jazz studies departments. This step-by-step assembly of a musical piece will culminate with a moving performance that highlights the synergy between rhythm section and vocalist. This projects participant includes some of LA’s finest teachers and most accomplished musicians– Ron Bishop, piano, Trevor Ware, bass, and drummer/director Dexter Story.
