LAMAGLearn:
Touring L.A. Real Estate Fraud with Maura Brewer
Friday, July 16 at 1 PM PST
In 1550 Blue Jay Way, C.O.L.A. 2021 Visual Art Fellow Maura Brewer returns to a familiar subject: the films of director Jess Bond (formerly known as Jessica Manafort, Paul Manafort’s oldest daughter). In 1550 Blue Jay Way, Brewer reworks Jess Bond’s most recent film, a small budget, neo-noir thriller called Rosy, to tell the story of a series of real estate frauds undertaken by Bond’s now ex-husband. In her rereading of this film, Brewer presents a portrait of Los Angeles, a city hollowed out by real estate fraud and speculation.
In this program, learn more about 1550 Blue Jay Way and take a virtual tour of real estate fraud in LA, mapped by Maura Brewer.
