Linda Vallejo: Brown Belongings presents a collection of new and recent work from the Los Angeles-based, Chicana artist whose career spans more than forty years. For nearly a decade, Vallejo has explored the vast and varied meanings of the color brown in her art. LA Plaza will exhibit new works by Vallejo alongside selections from several recent series and subseries of artworks that examine brownness and Latinx identity.

NFMLA Virtual Film Festival – InFocus: Female Cinema & InFocus

NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) showcases and champions emerging filmmakers and diverse storytellers from around the world. In response to the COVID-19 crisis, we’ve moved our programming to virtual platforms. This includes the NFMLA Monthly Film Festival, now powered by Seed&Spark. This edition will include short and feature film programs, Q&A’s, panels and selections from our InFocus initiative which combats the lack of diversity in media. Dancing on the Edge

The Bootleg Theater presents BlakTinx Dance Festival’s “Dancing on the Edge”. This is a video performance/presentation of BlakTinx alumni that features the creativity of these choreographers as they deal with the pandemic, sheltered in their homes. These video performances are soulful, imaginative, personal and sometimes truly joyful expressions of what it means to deal with the reality of covid 19. On Saturday, June 6th beginning at 7pm listeners can live stream soundpedro2020schizophonia at soundpedro.org. Following the live kick-off and Earmaginations sound performances, sound works will be continuously released throughout the month of June concluding with a SynthLab online dance party on June 30th at 7pm. Padua Playwrights kicks off the 2020 season with a series of performances with Blackouts. A new virtual performance piece showcases writer and director Murray Mednick’s poetic gifts to address the Covid-19 crisis.
