Iranian singer Mamak Khadem blends her roots in the ancient poetry and music of the Persian masters with a bold and new sound. Her latest album, The Road, invites us on a journey that includes her native Iran as well as Serbia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Greece, and Arab-Andalusia.  Khadem draws upon a treasure trove of traditional melodies, rhythms, and poetry to create a lush sound.

In this course, Connie Rohman will share the useful and beautiful technique of Boro stitching which originated in Medieval Japan. Boro stitching uses a simple running stitch called Sashiko stitch to bring new utility to fabric scraps and as the basis for beautiful textile art. With this simple and lovely technique, we will mindfully mend, darn, and repurpose clothing and work on original textile projects.
