The Animation Guild’s QueerTAG Committee has gathered more than 15 Queer and Trans animation industry professionals to create monster characters and their dating profiles. The Monster Dating Simulation exhibition features a wide range of characters and genders to show how being inclusive isn’t hard. “We take the concept of a dating simulator—which usually centers around a ‘boy meets girl’ narrative, with a male-gaze perspective—and we flip this on its head,” says QueerTAG’s Co-chair Andy Garner-Flexner. “We want to create a fun, loveable, and creative space where Queer and Trans characters can exist without the male-gaze perspective on their character description.”
