Moompetam: Native American Festival

In celebration of local Native American cultures, the Aquarium of the Pacific will host its 13th annual Moompetam Festival featuring traditional music, dance, cultural craft demonstrations, storytelling, and educational programs. The festival will celebrate California’s indigenous maritime cultures, including the Tongva, Chumash, Acjachemen, Costanoan, Luiseño, and Kumeyaay. Saturday and Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

COST: $29.95 Adults, $26.95 Seniors, $17.95 Children (3 -11), Free children under 3 and Aquarium members

Sabor a Michoacán: Tierra del Molcajete

In this hands-on class, attendees will learn about the origin of the molcajete: how to season it, and how to prepare three authentic salsas. You’ll be utilizing ingredients such as tomatoes, chile de arbol, cascabel and more! Guest Speaker: Oscar Ochoa, owner of El Machete Chilli Sauce.

Tacos La Brooklyn

In “Tacos La Brooklyn,” Chino, a Korean American, seeks to expand his taco stand into a restaurant. Accused of cultural appropriation, he must prove his cultural authenticity to a diverse Los Angeles community while navigating gentrification. The Travelers by Luis Alfaro

In a nearly abandoned Catholic monastery, a man shot through the heart disrupts the lives of a small group of Brothers. “The Travelers” explores brown men seeking connection and heart in California’s Central Valley.
