Musical Theatre I is a beginner level class for students ages 7 – 15 who are interested in the exciting world of Musical Theatre! This online class is great for students with a curiosity for singing, acting and dancing, but who may have little to no experience at all. No prior experience is required, just an open mind and an eagerness to learn and have fun in a safe and welcoming environment of your peers with a Teaching Artist and classroom mentors who care about your development through the arts!

Through fun games, interactive activities, and a review of musical theatre history, this performance- based class will have you singing, acting, and dancing your way onto the stage in no time. We will also have some very special guest artists join our class for Q/A opportunities, performances, and much more. These professionals are here to help further your students’ knowledge of Musical Theatre based on real life experiences from local artists in the field. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a collaborative video performance that will be put together for a celebratory end-of the summer culmination piece.

Musical Theatre I is taught by LHYAC Teaching Artist, Matthew Noah (Mr. Matthew). This class will have a 15 student maximum capacity. All classes have an adult support staff assistant in addition to the lead Teaching Artist to help ensure the best experience possible for everyone.

Weekly classes will take place virtually via Zoom on Wednesdays from 5 pm – 5:50 pm for 5 weeks starting July 14 through August 11, 2021. The Zoom link will be provided via email upon registration.

To participate, you will need:

a Zoom account
laptop, computer, i-pad, or other device with internet access
some space to move and dance around freely
comfy clothes
Come join us for Musical Theatre I, where we will play fun theatre games and activities, meet some wonderful professionals, and begin learning about the wonderful world of Musical Theatre! I can’t wait to meet you!
