An evening with US Poet Laureate Joy Harjo marks the 50th anniversary of the UCLA poetry series at the Hammer. Joy Harjo, the first Native American to be Poet Laureate, has published nine books. She is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, the PEN America Literary Award for creative nonfiction, the American Book Award, the Ruth Lilly Prize from the Poetry Foundation for lifetime achievement, and the Wallace Stevens Award from the Academy of American Poets.
