SUMMER 2021 SESSION: JULY 12 – AUGUST 14 (5 WEEKS)
POETRY FOR KIDS
Students ages 8-12 will be introduced to writing poetry in a fun and low-pressure virtual classroom environment. We will learn the building blocks for how to tell stories, and learn about the written word by writing our own poems. No experience necessary. Students are encouraged to write in whatever language(s) they choose.
Poetry for Kids will be taught by LHYAC Teaching Artist, Bobby Gordon (Mr. Bobby). This class will have a 20 student maximum capacity. All classes have an adult support staff assistant in addition to the lead Teaching Artist to help ensure the best experience possible for everyone.
Weekly classes will take place virtually via Zoom on Mondays from 1 pm – 1:50 pm for 5 weeks starting, July 12 through August 9, 2021. The Zoom link will be provided via email upon registration.
To participate, you will need:
a Zoom account
pen/pencil
paper
laptop, computer, i-pad, or other device with internet access
We look forward to thinking about words and language in new ways to create poetry together this summer! Tell your friends and see you soon!
