The Power and Transformation of One Resource, Lint

Art in the Park is excited to welcome artist Veronica De Jesus, @veronicadejesusart, art for a  series of workshops organized around resources.

The first two workshops on February 15 and 22 will focus on the transformation of lint, the byproduct of washing our clothes.

We will spend time with this discarded material, lint. Lint will be our powersource, putting both a light on both the fragility and power of resources. We will look into lint as an examination into perspective and human perception of what lint means as a resource.

These first two workshops will focus on the process of working with lint, and turning lint into paper. We will expand on ideas collectively.

We will wear gloves while exploring this material. Ideas generated from this workshop will lead into the next. Come take part!

RSVP here, or on our website.

Veronica De Jesus is a visual artist raised in several American cities. She illustrates life as an American, in all its varied splendor. Drawing on pop culture icons, sports, heroes and villains, and more, she draws our complex world into focus. Her Memorial Drawings, an ongoing series of illustrations complemented with text, honor the many people who have influenced our collective culture and reflect on loss and mourning. Her work also explores identity and the ways we hide and reveal elements of our personalities. Her work has been shown in galleries in San Francisco, Berkeley, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. She has a BFA from San Francisco Art Institute and an MFA from UC Berkeley.
