The Center for the Arts Eagle Rock Presents its Winter Youth Arts Camp and Embroidered Ornaments Workshop
The Center for the Arts Eagle Rock has announced its Winter Youth Arts Camp from December 19 to 23, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for young people ages 6 to12. Tuition costs $375 for the camp and includes painting, sculpting, music, storytelling, textile arts, drawing, and performance. The Center is also offering a workshop on Embroidered Ornaments with Elly Dallas, on Tuesdays, December 6 and 13, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The in-person workshop costs $100 and includes all materials. A Plaza Cocina opened its newest exhibition, The Legacy of Cacao, which focuses on chocolate, one of the most popular foods in the world. The exhibition follows the evolution of chocolate from its first reference by the Olmec civilization, more than 2,000 years ago, to the present day.

Art, Honor, and Ridicule: Fante Asafo Flags from Southern Ghana

This exhibition features the Fowler’s extraordinary collection of Asafo flags from Ghana. Colorful and conceptually layered, the flags are insignia for the historical and still thriving military companies of Fante states in southern Ghana. They are created by various workshops active in the region to this day and are paraded by the companies to celebrate their strength and preserve the memory of their role as community defendants.
