Discover the unique culinary traditions and cultural connections of African-inspired Panamanian cuisine in Los Angeles. In this cooking class, Panamanian cuisine will be explored with Flavors of Panamá, where attendees will prepare various dishes while exploring Afro-Latino food traditions and the African Diaspora through this hands-on cooking class. Learn to make arroz con coco, pollo guisado and plantains cooked in two different ways.
From the 1500s to the present, African music has shaped and formed every other Latin American music genre. From cumbia to Afro-Peruvian music, from Son Jarocho to Son Cubano, African rhythms have made Latin Americans dance to the beat of life. Participants will learn the contributions of African rhythms and listen to an impromptu music session at the end of the evening.
