DCA’s Sun Valley Youth Arts Center Presents In-person Art Workshops for October and the 16th Annual Día de Los Muertos Celebration
The Sun Valley Youth Arts Center will present a series of in-person art workshops on Saturdays, October 22 and 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Workshops will be held outdoors and are free for the entire family on a first-come, first-served basis. On Saturday, October 29, an in-person ritual danza will be performed by Danza Temachtia Quetzacoatl beginning at 11:30 a.m. On Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at 5:00 p.m., the center will host a virtual celebration of Día de los Muertos with a concert by Conjunto Zacamandu and Hermanos Herrera in addition to a student art exhibition that will be featured on the center’s social media platforms: Sun Valley Youth Arts Center “Stone House” | Facebook; Sun Valley Youth Art Center Stone House – YouTube; Sun Valley Youth Arts Center (@svyacstonehouse) • Instagram photos and videos. DCA’s Taxco Theatre Presents Puppet Making Workshops for Día de los Muertos
DCA’s Taxco Theatre will present two Dia de los Muertos Puppet-Making Workshops on October 22 and 29 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Participants will learn about the origins of Dia de los Muertos and engage with puppet and theatre artists to create handheld festival items for the annual Canoga Park Day of the Dead Festival Procession on Sherman Way on November 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. celebrating Dia de los Muertos with puppets, dance, music, and storytelling. Lincoln Heights Youth Arts Center presents its 2022 Día de los Muertos celebrations and days of remembrance! The center will open up its outdoor courtyard space for the community to come together after so much loss and pain, whether collectively as a society, or in people’s own personal lives. Barnsdall Arts Center and Barnsdall Junior Arts Center Present the Annual Día de los Muertos Installation and Celebration on November 4 and 5
The Barnsdall Arts Center (BAC), Barnsdall Junior Arts Center (BJAC), and Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery (LAMAG) collaborate to present the BAC and BJAC Annual Día de los Muertos Installation and Celebration. On view at LAMAG on November 4 and 5 from 11:00 to 3:00 p.m., the altar will feature banners of remembrance created and contributed by participants from the BAC/BJAC Banners of Remembrance Outdoor Art Workshop with offerings and objects traditional to Día de los Muertos. Canoga Park Youth Arts Center Announces Día de los Muertos Art Exhibition
The Canoga Park Youth Arts Center presents a Día de Los Muertos Art Exhibition on Sunday, November 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the center, just down the street from the Main Street Canoga Park Dia de los Muertos event. Over 400 studen[DT1] t artworks will be exhibited, including altars and decorated Calaveras, many created by students at Canoga Park Elementary, Village Charter Academy, the Leichman Career and Transition Center, and the center’s after-school classes.
