hapa.me – 15 years of the hapa project

Artist Kip Fulbeck continues his project, begun in 2001, of photographing persons who identify as “Hapa”—of mixed Asian/Pacific Islander descent—as a means of promoting awareness and positive acceptance of multiracial identity. Through October 28 Tuesdays – Sundays 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Thursdays 12:00 noon – 8:00 p.m. Adults – $10, Seniors & Youth – $6, Members & Children 5 and under Free Free Thursday evenings and all day every third Thursday of the month. What We Carried: Fragments and Memories from Iraq and Syria

Since 2003, several million Iraqis and Syrians have left their war-torn homes and relocated around the world in hopes of creating a better future for themselves and their families. Approximately 140,000 of these refugees have immigrated to the United States, the majority with nothing more than the clothes on their backs and a small memento to remind them of home. Natsumatsuri Family Festiva

Join us for our annual summer celebration featuring Japanese and Japanese American performances, crafts, and activities. The event includes musical performances, free samples of sata andagi (Okinawan deep-fried pastries), basic taiko drumming lessons, and fun crafts including origami.
