PERFORMING ARTS
Through public and private support for performing arts programs, DCA implements initiatives to create festivals and platforms to select artists to create and/or present site-specific public art projects and/or programming. The Performing Arts Program champions Los Angeles artists through advocacy on a local, national, and international level by enhancing relationships with national touring circuits, for-profit promoters, national service organizations, other government agencies, foreign consulates, and important festivals and cultural centers across the globe.
Recent programs include the Los Angeles Stage Advance, Los Angeles Dance Platform, Black Arts @ WAA, COMPOSE LA, and many panels and discussions throughout Los Angeles.
The Performing Arts Program manages six performing arts venues, the Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro, the Madrid Theatre in Canoga Park, The Taxco Theatre (not yet open) also in Canoga Park, the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre in East Hollywood, the Lankershim Arts Center in North Hollywood (coming soon), and the Vision Theatre in Leimert Park (currently closed for renovations). We also oversee two partner-venues, the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center in Mid-City and the Los Angeles Theatre Center, Downtown.
