The Dymally Institute is pleased to announce its Spring 2023 Distinguished Speaker, Author/Scholar/Anti-Racist, Robin DiAngelo.Dr. DiAngelo is a New York Times (NYT) bestselling author. Her books, White Fragility, and Nice Racism, have stayed a top of the NYT bestsellers list for months. She is a leading scholar and theorist on the pathology of racism in America as it affects White People, she explains systemic racism with clarity and accessibility for those who have a problem discussing racism, and where race discourse continues to be a barrier of resistance in creating pathways to promoting racial provides the questions and perspectives needed to confront Americansociety’s most taboo subjects. Race and Racism, and seek to develop more racially-just practices. A Book signing will follow the distinguished Lecture.

Gee’s Bend: Shared Legacy

See an installation of prints made by members of Gee’s Bend Quiltmakers’ Collective. The pieces were created by pressing original quilted fabric designs face down on a wax-coated printing plate that captured the fabrics’ texture, seams, and stitching of the original. Through this innovative process, a quilt is translated to a printed surface—a new medium to explore and share the quiltmakers’ creativity. “Gee’s Bend: Shared Legacy” is presented in two six-month installments, each featuring a selection of 12 prints.
